چکیده

Abstract Background To investigate the association between postoperative lymph nodes (LNs) recurrence and distinct serum thyroglobulin (Tg) levels in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). Methods This study included PTC who underwent total thyroidectomy (TT) at least central neck dissection then re-operated due to of LNs January 2013 June 2018. These were grouped by negative or positive Tg according American Thyroid Association guidelines. Results Of 60 patients, 49 radioactive iodine (RAI) treatment. Maximum unstimulated (uTg) ? 0.2 ng/mL associated larger diameter recurrent ( P = 0.027), higher rate metastatic < 0.001). Serum-stimulated (off-Tg) 1 0.047) (on-Tg) ng/Ml 0.013) LNs. Number 8 was an independent predictor for maximum uTg (OR 8.767; 95% CI 1.392–55.216; 0.021). Ratio 25% off-Tg 20.997; 1.649–267.384; 0.019). Conclusion Postoperative Tg-positive status size ratio predicators uTg-positive off-Tg-positive status, respectively.

Thyroidectomy and Lymph Node Dissection in Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma

Papillary carcinoma is a prominent malignancy originating from follicular cells. This disease generally shows an indolent character, but patients demonstrating certain clinicopathological features have a dire prognosis. At present, Western countries adopted almost routine total thyroidectomy with radioactive iodine (RAI) ablation, while limited thyroidectomy with extensive prophylactic lymph no...

Changes in serum thyroglobulin antibody levels as a dynamic prognostic factor for early-phase recurrence of thyroglobulin antibody-positive papillary thyroid carcinoma after total thyroidectomy.

We demonstrated previously that dynamic prognostic markers such as the thyroglobulin (Tg)-doubling time in thyroglobulin antibody (TgAb)-negative papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and changes in pre- and postoperative TgAb levels in TgAb-positive PTC patients more keenly reflect patients' prognosis than conventional static prognostic factors. Here we investigated periodic changes in TgAb levels...

Postoperative recurrence of papillary thyroid carcinoma with lymph node metastasis

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to retrospectively analyze the features of patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) presenting with neck lymph node (LN) metastasis. METHODS The study enrolled 909 patients with PTC who had undergone total thyroidectomy. After a median follow-up of 14.6 years, 73 (8.0%) patients died of thyroid cancer. A total of 536 patients had ...

[Thyroglobulin levels in needle lymph node cytology for the detection of papillary thyroid cancer recurrence].

BACKGROUND During the detection of neck recurrence in patients with Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma (PTC), sometimes it is difficult to distinguish metastatic from inflammatory neck lymph nodes. The measurement of serum thyroglobulin (sTg) under thyroid hormone suppression therapy the presence of serum thyroglobulin antibodies (sAbTg), the diagnostic whole body scan and cytology can give false nega...

Prognostic impact of serum thyroglobulin doubling-time under thyrotropin suppression in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma who underwent total thyroidectomy.

BACKGROUND Detectable serum thyroglobulin (Tg) in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) after total thyroidectomy implies unsuccessful surgery, indicating a high risk of recurrence. Serum Tg kinetics in such patients have not been extensively studied. We studied serum Tg kinetics in patients with suppressed serum thyrotropin levels and undetectable anti-Tg antibody to minimize the eff...
